Why Energy Efficiency?

Despite rising power bills, and climate change, 84% of energy in commercial buildings is wasted due to lack of time, and everyday contractors lack of energy efficiency expertise. This increases emissions, reduces business productivity, and reduces business profitability.

Referred to as ‘the first fuel’, Energy Efficiency is the cheapest and fastest way to reach net zero and reduce energy costs - by reducing energy waste.

As well as making businesses more profitable, energy efficiency also has many other benefits – such as improving safety and aesthetics through better lighting, and improving comfort and wellbeing through better heating and cooling.

Our Story

While the world faces serious challenges ranging from poverty to climate change, business can be a powerful tool to help. Despite the enormity of environmental and social issues, humans have repeatedly achieved the "impossible" before; just imagine telling someone 300 years ago about electric light. Solutions won't just happen though, we have to get to work.

Founded in 2015, Austep is a B Corp certified Social Enterprise using business as a tool to positively impact people, profit, places and planet. We design and install energy efficiency upgrades in commercial buildings, to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions, while donating 50% of profits to charity.

As an experienced Energy Services Company (ESCO), Austep is a specialist energy efficiency consultant and turnkey project manager, helping organisations improve their positive impact and increase profitability.

Our friendly and trusted team includes a licensed builder, architect, lighting designers, and mechanical engineers, with accreditations in carbon, energy, sustainability, refrigeration, project management, energy auditing, energy management, NABERS, and more - enabling us to audit, design and lead comprehensive Integrated Commercial Building EnergyRetrofits (IBERs).

Built on a foundation of partnerships, positive impact, and expertise, we reduce the lifecycle costs of energy use in buildings, while improving light quality, thermal comfort, and occupant wellbeing.
